The Emma Eccles Jones Early Childhood Education Research Center provides comprehensive services for educational innovation, research, and dissemination. The major role of the Center is to provide educational experiences and resources for teachers and parents that reflect the most current understanding of the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development of children from ages four through eight. The Center fosters collaborative interaction between Utah State University’s Department School of Teacher Education and Adult Leadership (TEAL) and Edith Bowen Laboratory School as well as with other departments at Utah State University and other universities in Utah, the Utah State Office of Education, and school districts and parent organizations throughout the state. The Center also serves as a clearinghouse for validated practices, research findings, and educational services, and teaching resources for the improvement of education in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and the primary grades.

Routledge and Taylor and Francis of New York, publisher of The Journal of Educational Research has announced the appointment of Dr. D. Ray Reutzel, Emma Eccles Jones Endowed Chair Professor of Early Literacy, as Executive Editor for literacy, language, and second language research. The Journal of Educational Research is one of the longest continuously running research journals in education, entering its 107th volume year. It is consistently ranked among the most elite education research journal publications in the world whether measured by impact factor, citation rates, H factor, or other ranking metrics. Scientific Journal Rankings places JER among the top 25-35 journals in education and education research in a field of 576 ranked education journals world wide with an H Factor rating of 35. Dr. Reutzel will begin his editorial duties immediately under the leadership of Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Mary Heller. As part of his duties, he will report and present annually at the American Educational Research Association Meeting as a part of the journal editorial team.
